ALWAYS make sure to look visa requirements on the embassies' official websites, not alternative visa websites - things can change rapidly and may not be up to date on visa websites, but they will be on the embassies'. For the UK, check on the UK Border Agency website, as recommended by the UK embassy in the US (http://ukinusa.fco.gov.uk/en/visiting-uk/visas/). The UK Border Agency specifies that in most cases you do not need a visa if you are a US national, but make sure to enter the information that really suits your purpose for visiting the UK in the UK Border Agency's webpage entitled "Do you need a visa?" :http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas-immigration/do-you-need-a-visa/

    Best of luck!
