I'm an Australian spending a week or two in London this month, but I'm thinking of taking a train to Paris for a few days. Will I have problems with re-entering the UK? As I understand it, Australians and other members of the Commonwealth can enter the UK freely but I don't know what the situation is? Help please? :)

There is always a passport check at the border, as the United Kingdom is not part of the Shengen Zone, where people travel indeed without passport check. Check online if you need a visa for the Shengen countries, but if you do, you won't be able to enter without it over 6 years ago
