It would depend on a few things.

What day do you arrive? Will your luggage be checked through or will you need to collect it? Do you have a visa, or will you need one?

If you are not collecting luggage, and are travelling, for example, on a British passport which gets a visa on arrival, the queues are not huge and you get through quickly it would look like this :

    1am - land
1am - disembark, go through immigration and customs
2am - leave airport if you dont have luggage
3.30am+ - leave airport if you have to get visa, get bags, the airport is full of new workers arriving etc

7.30am - depending where you are in Dubai and what day it is, you would want to be heading back to the airport
9am - check back in if you have luggage
9.30am - check back in if you have no luggage
    11am - flight leaves

So potentially you have a maximum of 6 hours and a minimum of 3 to explore Dubai. At this time of night not much is open - a drive through MacDonalds or maybe a nightclub.

The Burj Khalifa opens at 5.30am on Friday and Saturday for Sunrise so that may work.

For me, the time is very tight and I would probably stay in the airport. Depending on how much sleep I had had, there is a hotel airside which you can pay by the hour, or you could pay to use one of the lounges etc. Dubai Airport is massive with shops, cafes and a bar, so maybe you would just want to stay there? over 5 years ago
