Hi, I am travelling from Australia to Dubai for a few days and my travel agent has included transfer fares from the airport to the hotel (12kms distance). The transfer fees is a total of $80.00 AUD for one way. Does anyone know if 1. It is easy to catch a taxi from the airport and 2. Would it be cheaper than $80.00 AUD? Any help would be great! Thanks.

    HI there

I checked using the Dubai Taxi Calculator - for a pick up from Dubai Airport going 12km, the cost was 61AED which is around 21 AUD. So yes, it would be significantly lower than the 80 AUD you have been quoted.

The taxis that you can get as soon as you exit the airport, are clearly marked, will have a meter running, and are insured. You may be approached by a tout, but use with caution as I have heard some horror stories. Drivers probably wont know a "street" address, such as 21 High Street, but will know it by local landmarks and should know your hotel. I would probably do a google map search ahead of time to see if there are any other landmarks close to you hotel that you could say, such as "XX hotel which is next to Wild Wadi" for example.

Hope this helps. over 3 years ago

I was there this time last year and hadn't prebooked any transport from the airport and it was easy to get a taxi. as it was next in the taxi queue we were in one of the pink 'lady taxi' cars, a small company of women drivers. They were professional, knew where we wanted to go and was reasonably priced.
It's the same as most big airports just walk out the doors and there's a queue of taxis waiting to pick people up. over 3 years ago
