    no burka is not necessary. you can wear track pants and t shirts. exposing alot will definitely attract attention. over 6 years ago

    Track pants and a t-shirt will be fine. Stick to areas where there are other people out running/walking/exercising so as not to attract too many stares.

    I regularly see women in my quiet neighbourhood in Abu Dhabi walk/run in sports kit, shorts, abayas etc. Such a mix. I usually wear my old sweat pants and a t-shirt, put on my I-pod and walk. The only trouble I get is a taxi slowing down to see if I want a ride.

    They may also want to consider going to somewhere like the Yas track where you can walk, run or cycle during the evening, or joining the Hash.

    By the way Jazz, I think you meant an abaya and not a burqa. over 6 years ago
