I've already been once to Dubai, I stayed with a friend that lives there and we moved around in the metro and/or with his friends. This time I'm going with my brother so I will only be able to use taxis and the metro. We are going to be moving around a lot (Ferrari world, atlantis, skydive Dubai ...) and it looks like renting a car for 5 days will not cost me more then 300$ ( 200$ for the car + 100$ to get my international driving license ) so what do you recommend.

Driving in Dubai is challenging! The streets lack signs and unless you know exactly where you are going, it may be a bit difficult to find anywhere. To be honest, I would probably not hire a car but use the metro and taxi to get around.

It's also easy to get a taxi to take you to other places such as Ferrari World which is in Abu Dhabi. All the taxis have meters so as long as you have Dirhams on you, then you will be fine.

If you feel adventurous, then sure, hire a car, but make sure you get the full option for insurance. Petrol is very cheap here, so unless you are driving a huge Hummer, your gas for one week wont cost you all that much.

For ease though, I would go with the taxi option. over 8 years ago

Sorry, wanted to add your GPS will give you an overview, but dont expect it to be current. Streets change all the time. Roads close, new roads open - it is a bit of a nightmare. I have a GPS but also use google earth to get myself around, especially in Dubai! over 8 years ago
