Depending on where your hotel is:
if you are downtown AD then head to the Corniche - there are plenty of cafes and restaurants and you can sit, watcht the world go by and look at the gorgeous sea and/or have a swim.
shopping malls if that is your thing - Marina Mall is probably the best followed by Abu Dhabi Mall, Al Wahda Mall
lots of great hotels and restaurants - i love the Royal Orchid at the Hilton Hotel
tea or a drink in Emirates Palace
shisha at one of the many coffee shops
during the day you could go to Sheikh Zayed Mosque or visit one of the many golf courses
other great hotels are Fairmont (Frankies or Marco Pierre White), or there is a fab indian place at Yas Viceroy on Yas Island almost 8 years ago -

I'd recommended seeing the Sheikh Zayed Mosque, also known as the Grand Mosque especially around sunset. It's a beautiful mosque and a landmark on the capital. over 7 years ago

A lovely view of the mosque is from the balcony at either Left Bank or the Noodle House in the Shangri La Souk - as the mosque will be closed in the evening. over 7 years ago
