Visiting SE Turkey in October
I've been thinking about visiting Mardin and Hakenseyf this October. Do you think it's unwise/ unsafe at this time? The Australian travel site advises people to reconsider travelling in the area. I think the British travel site has similar sort of advice. I have not seen any warnings on the U.S. Dept. of State travel site though. Thanks. (I accidentally posted the same question on the Comment section, so please ignore it there)

It is pretty safe to go around with car as well. I am traveling from Istanbul to Erbil, Northern Iraq and all trip was safe enough. I am at the moment in Midyat where about 40 Km away from Hasankeyf and town has 4 hotels, one of them 5 stars hotel, town itself historical and best to stay in. about 9 years ago
