Four Seasons hotel as luxury hotel and Esans Hotel as smaller excellent service hotel would be nice choices...

Hi. I stayed in Istambul during a week last december and I strongly recommend the Hotel Esans, which is only three minutes walk from the Hagia Sophia and the Kopikapi Palace. It's a small but cute hotel in the center of historical Istambul, and the staff was awesome helpful. Here is their website: www.esanshotel.com. Have a nice trip! over 9 years ago

We stayed at the Arena hotel near Hagia Sophia. We were very happy there - it was a small hotel, clean and from our room we had good views out to the bay. over 9 years ago

    • Hi Helen, thanks for the recommendation. Unfortunately I booked Pera Tulip in Taksim before reading your comment. They seem to be pretty good based on their reviews on booking.com. Fingers crossed! Travasso over 9 years ago

I stayed at the Side pensyion ("see-deh") which is near the Four Seasons and Blue Mosque etc there's a hotel side which is pricier, but the pensyion side was great. Large room, private bathroom, clean, quiet, great staff, delicious breakfast on the roof included. I have Istanbul restaurant recs here: https://traveleater.wordpress.com/turkey-field-notes/. Be careful of the taxi from the airport - the Side staff will ensure you don't get overcharged. over 9 years ago

I would recommend Romans Haute Couture Hotel. Comfortable accommodation in the building situated on land reclaimed in the 16th century from the sea under the direction of architect Mimar Sinan. It's a clean, lovely place with interesting consept and friendly service.
