How secure is the Ataturk airport in Istanbul?

It will be my hub for five flights in May. Thanks. I realize that no place is absolutely secure. I'm both excited and nervous about my trip!

  Istanbul airport is generally secure place and unlikely that you will be having any issues but as you said no place is absolutely safe now. Some time ago all those security procedures were really annoying to me but now I realize that it is "a must"... over 4 years ago
