Is it safe to travel in Turkey?

Specifically, is it safe to go to Harran and/or Gobekli Tepe?

    From news reports I hear that occasionally weapons fire strays across the border into Turkey, but as a consequence of IS chasing fleeing refugees rather than deliberate action.
    Best advice is to stay 5 to 10kms away from the border if at all possible.

    Well, Phil's advice isn't really accurate. Among the many refugee camps along Turkey's Syrian border are those at Harran and nearby Akcakale. Does that mean it's unsafe to travel there? You may find aome more detailed advice on the TripAdvisor forums. about 4 years ago
