It is apparantly a rough working class neighborhood, and Istanbul taxi's are very bad.
Can we got to a hotel and ask them to get a taxi for a tip?

You can take the tram and then transfer to the Metro get off and walk. Follow the city walls and then you will see the brown signs for the Museum. There are a few places to eat on the way. They are point and eat places but OK foods. Asitane which is a well rayed restaurant is also adjacent to the Chora Church. The area is not touristy. almost 4 years ago

    It depends where you are.
If I suppose that you are in Sultanahmet area. You can get the tramway to the direction of Topkapi (it is not the palace). Get off in Topkapi station and than go up. tehre you will see another tramway station (Topkapi -Habipler). There you can get the tram to the Edirnekapı station. After getting off walk up, and enter to the city by a wall entrance like 100 meters later you will see the sign of Kariye Church. over 3 years ago
