In my opinion, train would not be a good option for transportation.
I would recommend taking the direct buses from Izmir Bus Station to Ephesus.
That would be a better and more convenient option.
Will you stay in Ephesus or are you planning a daily trip from Izmir? over 7 years ago
Even you take the bus, you would still have to make your way from Selcuk town to Ephesus (3-4km)
Train or bus is the same thing. They both leave you in Selcuk town.
After wards take a dolmus "local transportation" minibus to Kusadasi which passes tru ephesus... Then you only walk less than a km..
Good luck... over 7 years agoAnswered by Hasan via WorldNomads.com
Firstly, there is no accommodation in Ephesus. You will need to stay at a nearby town to Ephesus. Either Selcuk or Kusadasi are best. Secondly, are you arriving in Izmir via a flight or via bus? Some airlines offer free shuttle to Selcuk.
If arriving by bus to Izmir, I would suggest taking a local bus (dolmus) from Izmir's main bus station (otogar) to the town of Selcuk. It would be most direct.
Otherwise check this information for the train: http://www.turkeytravelplanner.com/go/Aegean/Izmir/transport/izmir-selcuk_train.html
I believed there were no trains operating due to upgrades - best to make a few calls. over 7 years agoAnswered by Laleh via WorldNomads.com
