Arriving in Istanbul on Oct 31,flying to Izmir straight.want to see Ephesus/Pamukkale. Where to stay?how to tour by bus? some tips pls.Anty
Need to be back in Istanbul on Nov 3. Planning overnight bus back. On Nov 2. Questions I have are regrading how to get from Izmir airport to Seljuk and how to move abt to see Ephesus and Pamukkale. Thanks
My hotel info is out of date, but travel by bus in Turkey is ideal. I have 2 posts that give more Turkey travel info here: http://traveleater.wordpress.com/turkey-field-notes/ about 6 years ago
Just to share my route, istanbul day 1, then night bus to cappadocia, stayed overnight in goreme, the following night to pamukkale by overnight bus and then that same day in pamukkale, leave to istanbul by bus at night. Spend more time in istanbul. Goreme in cappadokia is a must. Stay overnight or two. Worth it. Quiet town and full of caves hotels about 6 years ago
Thank you for answers, Travel eater and Cyda. My plans are more specific now. I want to spend one night in Goreme. Fly out of Istanbul on Nov 8, stay overnight in Goreme. Either fly back on Nov 9 evening or overnight to Istanbul. Any suggestions for tour agencies or DIY itineraries?much appreciate your replies. about 6 years ago
Places to stay. Get in contact with Hotel Akay in Selcuk (closes town to Ephesus) and then Melrose Pansiyon in Pamukkale - both beautiful, local, family run small boutique hotels. Hotel Akay I think offers transfers from the airport. Speak to Ria at Hotel Akay.
Buses. Local buses run between Selcuk and Pamukkale and bus tickets can be booked at any travel agent in Selcuk....or the bus station which is centrally located.
In Goreme, whilst I can't recommend an agency, there are plenty of agencies willing to provide tours, it is off season now, but you can walk around and check out whats on offer and prices. In Goreme if the money allows do a hot air balloon ride - Kapadokya Balloons or Royal Balloons I have used and happy with their service. Make sure you get to the open air museum and if time permits, take a South Cappadocia tour to Underground city, Ihlara Valley and Selime. almost 6 years agoAnswered by Leeann Laleh via WorldNomads.com
