    Annkreit, it's true that there's an occasional incident in Istanbul, but mostly they occur in outer suburbs away from the tourist centres. Check with hotel staff abiout shich areas to avoid.
    The main trouble is in the far south east of the country, especially within 60 kms of the borders with Syria and Iraq and Iran..... but that's the other end of the (large) country from Istanbul.

    Istanbul is safe. And nearly all of the cities of Turkiye, too. Just keep a bit far away from some districts and that is enough. As suggested above, you can ask your hotel staff which areas to avoid. over 6 years ago
