Spending around 13 days in Turkey, hoping to head over on Friday from Athens. Just trying to find the best value and most efficient way to get to Istanbul or at least into Turkey. Whilst in Turkey we are hoping to travel to Gallipoli, Troy and down to Olympus. Any hints as to good value accomodation would also be welcome!

Travelling round Turkey is very easy to do. There are big buses for long distance - say from Istanbul to Antalya - and then grab a smaller dolmus to go from Antalya to Olympos.

FYI - Turkey is going to be cold at this time of year, so prepare yourself. Wherever you stay, make sure that they have hot water (a heater) rather than relying on solar panels.

If you go to Olympos, then please go see Phaseylis which is really close to it, as it really is simply a stunning archaeological site. I really like Kas which is another hour on from Olympos and has a good range of accommodation and restaurants etc, but lots of places will be closed as its definitely well outside of the season and you might struggle a little. about 11 years ago

best way from Athens to Istanbul is with flight, cost affective Istanbul Olympos is via coach. Turkey is a land of myth, a cradle of civilizations, a canvas of nature's most aesthetic bounties & a confluence of varied streams of culture. Owing to its favourable position, Turkey is the bridging nation between the East & West (Europe & Asia) & therefore boasts a spicy blend of oriental & modern, splendor & sleekness, which makes diversity its other name. In Turkey every visitor can find something for themselves. The world class cuisine, vibrant cities, warm hospitality, recreational facilities, historical attractions, cultural heritage & an unparallel natural beauty make Turkey an irresistible holiday destination for independent or group travelers...
