Does anyone know if the trains are running south from bangkok? I am trying to travel down to the islands but finding conflicting information on the web.
Also does anyone know how long it takes to get to the train station from bkk international airport and the best way?

Thanks

Yes the trains are running to the south. Have a look at this Thai News Blog by Richard barrow. He's an ex-pat journalist living in Bangkok and reporting on all things Thai.

Although the trains are good I suggest you look into buses also. I travelled throughout Thailand by Bus and found them reliable and cheaper than quotes by train. almost 7 years ago

From suvanapum airport, u can take a express train to almost central of bangkok. The last station is call "payathai". From this point, it coonect to skytrain, you could have a day trip in bangkok first or even stay for a coupon days.... almost 7 years ago
