There are 2 popular malls in Phuket that hotels would recommend (sorry but I can't recall the names). Take the free hotel shuttle (not worth paying for a taxi as it would cost the earth!) to the malls. There is plenty of shops to stroll and food to eat. Best if you head to the mall in Patong, you can also stroll the streets (best if without small children as it can be very rowdy after 7pm) and buy lots of cheap goodies (t-shirts, slippers, sandals, bags etc). Or if you're with a group of friends, bar hop at any bars along Patong.

If you are in Phuket over a weekend, be sure to check out their night market in Phuket Town. It's worth a visit even if you're not going to buy anything (I went & did not find anything interesting to buy but did try out the food stalls). Most importantly, remember to be persistent with tut-tut drivers on rates. Enjoy your trip to Phuket! about 7 years ago

Hope the above answer helped you. There is a large shopping mall outside Phuket Town called Central Festival but it is Westernized. Shopping for those goods is best during the day in Patong because there is more to look at at night! but you have no day time?
