    Local life? For sure, go North an North-East. You can see plenty of hill tribes and Isan people living a simpe life. about 7 years ago

    Try Nan, Pai, Loie, if you want small out of the way places. For beach try Rayong or Hau Hin about 7 years ago

    Try to get up to Chiang mai if you can. If you are there for a Sunday evening the walking markets are beautiful. You can easily travel further north to Chiang Dao where the Buddha caves are and do all of the elephant ride and hilltribe stuff if thats what you're looking for. about 7 years ago

    By all means spend a little time in Bangkok but as others have suggested head north towards Isan and/or Chiang Mai. Travel is generally inexpensive and the sleeper train north is a good experience. If going by bus then I would recommend Nakhon Chai Air. about 7 years ago
