    Sheemi, unlike volcanic eruptions, which have a build-up of activity, earthquakes are impossible to accurately predict. All you can do is be prepared. Fortunately, since the terrible 2004 quake and tsunami there is now a warning system for the Thai coast. If you hear sirens you should immediately head for higher ground (and remember that may be a substantial concrete building such as a hotel, get up to at least the second floor if you can).

    General 2011-2012 seismic activity forecast says that in 2011-2012 Autumn-Winter season it is more than likely that a strong earthquake might happen in S.E.asian region. But the region itself is so big, that it is silly to cancel ttravel plans because of that. Major earthquakes happen in the region quite often. It is well prepared to withstand them. Thus there's nothing to worry about. over 6 years ago
