Can anyone tell me, what the new sky train service to / from the new Bangkok airport to the city is like. I always took a taxi before from the airport to the city so is the new airport train service better or not?

In my opinion, very good. Reasonable price, rapid service, no need to pay extra for the expressway to avoid traffic gridlock. However, it depends where you want to go. No service to popular backpacker destinations (eg Khao San Road), so once you've got as far as you can, then you'd need to take a taxi onwards. over 9 years ago

Find some information (express / city line) and a map for the SARL = Suvarnabhumi Airport Rail Link here: http://www.top-travel-bangkok.com/suvarnabhumi_airport_link.htm over 9 years ago

Hey guys, i have tried the service and it works fine. But the thing is, if your travelling from the airport to the city you will still have to get from the station terminals to your hotel. So its another Taxi or BTS train ride from the station anyway to your final stop. So in reality it will probably take longer, plus more lugging of your bags around and cost more to use the train than a Taxi ride. The Taxi service from the airport is very good, all major hotels and areas have a set price and remember you can get say 5 people in the Taxi too ! The train may have some advantages for some as Thai Airways and Bangkok Airways have a check in counter at the Makkasan Station. over 9 years ago

It's a total disaster if you have any luggage and want to transfer at Makkasan station, no taxi's nearby and the walk to the MRT station is not very welcoming. Also if you are with more than 1, a taxi will be cheaper. over 9 years ago

It's incredibly fast, incredibly cheap and incredibly empty. Just 90 thb one way and you get to Suvarnabhumi in 15 minutes. over 9 years ago
