Travelling to Thailand in July or September with husband and two children aged 13 and 11. Any ideas where to go and what to do for 2 weeks?
Travelling to Thailand with husband and two children 13 and 11 and would love to go to variety of places within 2 weeks. Love to see River Kwai area, North Thailand and a beautiful island or beach thats not too busy or touristy.
If looking for an island experience, try Koh Tao - small and relatively undeveloped in comparison to the other popular resort destinations in Thailand.
Weather is generally good throughout summer.
A good resort for staying with the kids is Simple Life in Sairee - lots to see and do nearby, plus with swimming pool and free games room to keep them entertained. See http://www.kohtaosimpleliferesort.com
Kanchanburi and surroundings are very nice, or you might also consider Chiang Mai, but not sure about the weather at that time of year. almost 9 years ago
Chiang Mai, Pai (near Chaing Mai), and for an island.... Koh Tao.
Pai and the surrounding area is very charming. Stunning natural scenery. If possible, rent a car and go see it all on your own time and not in a group. Just be careful driving, especially in the mountains.
Whatever you do, do not go to Pattaya. It is often sold as a family destination, but nothing could be further from the truth. almost 9 years agoAnswered by Lee via WorldNomads.com
Chiang Mai should be close to the top of your list for family oriented fun. Be sure to see the nearby Elephant Camp and Tiger Park where you can actually pet a tiger. I was there in November and the weather was very nice but can be a little cool some evenings so bring a light jacket, just in case.
I agree with Lee, avoid Pattaya. While it has nice beaches the rest of it is not someplace you would want to take children. Phuket also has nice beaches but is a little more expensive and very touristy. almost 9 years agoAnswered by Wayne via Travellr.com
I recommend the Hua Hin Region (http://www.hua-hin-travel.com) south of Bangkok. The weather is normaly good even during the rainy season (http://www.hua-hin-travel.com/weather.htm); July is better. I recommend also to rent a car, so trips to Koh Tao (better is Koh Talu), to national parks (Kui Buri with wild elefants and Kaeng Krachan) and Kanchanaburi (Bridge over the Kwai) are easy.
There are many family friendly hotels in Hua Hin, but I would recommend a condo (http://www.hua-hin-travel.com/recommended-apartments-huahin.htm). almost 9 years ago
