I notice that the ongoing protests in Bangkok are around the Khao San Road area. My partner and I are staying on Sukhumvit Road but were hoping to visit Khao San Road in the evening - does anyone have up to date info on wether this is safe or not.
We re-published this map of protest locations in bangkok the other day.
You can see the Democracy Monument is not too far from Khaosan Rd, but the information we're getting is that, although a bit quieter than usual, everything is pretty normal there.
make sure you stay away from any rallies or demonstrations. over 5 years ago
pretty much 24 hours. But from what I'm hearing it is not spilling out beyond the environs of the monument (its a big plaza). There is no indication that it is directly affecting KSR at any hour. If you get a taxi to KSR make sure you ask the driver to stay well away from the protests.
Another tip, that map was made by ex-pat writer Richard Barrow - he's THE expert on Thailand. His Twitter feed on the protests is the best, and he'll answer any direct messages. His handle is Richardbarrow. over 5 years ago
If your not thai its no problem just returned and walked straight through them all, they are not interested in westerners only political thai ppl!!!
You are safe if you just be a normal tourist(not be a drunken moron),thai ppl love westerners and would never hurt them as the penalties r extreme!!! about 5 years ago
