My young children and I will be traveling from USA to Thailand. I was told I didn't need a visa to visit Thailand. From there I plan to visit India. Can I obtain my India visa from Thailand or its best I get it from USA since I am a USA citizen? We will be staying two weeks in Thailand and one month in India. My children are half Indian and we will be staying with relatives in India. I was also told that even with vaccines we will get sick..how can we avoid getting sick? We are traveling in July and I was also told that July was a bad month to travel to India because of the weather. Because I'm traveling with my children there are many concerns, should I be worry? On the other hand we are very excited about this trip.

Make sure you take normal medications with you; diarrhoea tabs etc. most things you can purchase in Thailand if you need to but make sure you only se bottled water. Not sure about India but if it was me, I'd get everything such a visas etc done prior to travel. Good luck though and have a good trip. over 5 years ago

Recommend you get the visa from US itself, will save you some time in Thailand. Getting sick in India is common for foreigners mainly due to the water, I recommend you always buy bottled water from a source your relatives recommend. Food related sickness can also set in however you are at risk only if you eat street food or at low quality restaurants. Home cooked meals will be fine and so will be dining at good high end restaurants, popular fast food franchises (Mc Donalds, Pizza Hut) etc.

As far as the time of the month goes, it depends where are you traveling too? Most of India will be pretty darned hot during this time however hill stations are cool and inviting. Also the coastal towns are great for traveling. over 5 years ago

July will be monsoon season in the south and hot in the north. I was in Bangalore last July, and i woke up to 24deg Celsius weather. It was awesome! If you have the chance, give Leh, Ladakh a visit. Jury's the best time to check that amazing place out! over 5 years ago
