I will be in Bangkok for five days. I would rather spend a little extra money to be safe, unless there are a variety of safe places to stay that are also cheap.

Depends where you want to stay.Khaosan remains safe and Rambutri village in is simple clean and efficient with a good pool on the roof ,singles are of course limited but you can book on line the deluxe single and then change b4 twelve the next day
Hotel Ibis is near the park and Metro and in high rise Bangkok they do deals 3 nights for 2 watch out for taxes
Take cabs they are metered and cheap e g town to the airport 6 pounds...they are cooler and you are not choked by fumes over 7 years ago

Rambuttri Village is fantastic for buget accommodation and close to Khao San Rd. If you want something more upmarket try Siam@Siam. Very safe adn has a spa. over 7 years ago

I'm a single female and I'd go for the Novotel on Siam Square. It's right near the train and Paragon Shopping Mall. It's very central, modern and lots of facilities. over 7 years ago
