I'd love restaurant/food stand suggestions, maybe some local shopping, or good places for hikes! I also want to go to Tiger Kingdom, if anyone has been and has some input on that, it'd be great. Any and all suggestions are welcome - I'd love to get the really local food.

Ironically, there's a fantastic Italian restuarant behind the Amora hotel! Thai's really know their Italian food!
The Sunday walking market is fantastic. The best thing about Chiang Mai is that there are heaps of tiny little places to eat hidden around the place (like Blue Diamond) and the food is always fantastic. Also the guys that make the crepes on the side of the road around the moat are awesome. almost 6 years ago

There are plenty of great restaurants, bars and coffee shops around Nimman Hemmin Road. It's very popular among students since the prices are reasonable, even with Thai standards. over 5 years ago

    Wat Prathat Doi Suthep.

Gorgeous Buddhist wat on top of a mountain. Many stairs, so there's your hike. There's surely pictures online, the stairs alone are impressive. over 4 years ago

We loved shopping for wood carvings, pottery and other locally made items. Go ride the elephants and see the long neck villagers. We also loved the palace. over 4 years ago
