Based on our 2 week trip in oct ,I suggest 6 days in Phuket and phi phi and 4 days in Bangkok. Pattaya is nothing compared to Phuket. If not interested in beach holiday , then chiang Mai and Bangkok for culture and temples shopping etc. but we like Phuket phi phi and will again in 2012 adding chiang Mai for 3 weeks about 9 years ago

Chang Mai then catch the overnight train down to Bangkok. Unless you want to be swamped by Tourists stay away from pattaya or phuket. There is heaps to do in Bangkok with day trips down to the tiger temple and bridge over river Kwai etc. death railway. War memorials, very moving about 9 years ago

You can also spend a day in Ayyuthaya if you're interested in ruins, a more cultural trip. This can take a day (or 2 if you want to go to all ruins) about 9 years ago
