I've read so much and had all different kinds of advice, but no-one who has gone for such a long period can advise me..

    I'm going to take malarone, it's more expensive but has less side effects than mefloquine. Doxycycline works better in SE Asia, and it makes you more sensitive to the sun. Cred: med student over 4 years ago

    I've used doxy every time I've been to Tanzania, and never had a problem. I'm leaving next week for four months and will be taking doxy again. Not sure about using malarone long term, but I'm sure thats fine as well. Best to check with a travel doctor if youre concerned. over 4 years ago
