Is it considered hiking or walking up to 6.000mt? Or mountaineering?
Since there are no technical difficulties..I would consider it just a trekking (so covered by the insurance).
Does anyone know?
Should I buy the insurance today! thank you!

    Hi Caterina,Kellie from worldnomads.com here.

You're right! Climbing Mt Kilimanjaro can be considered trekking /hiking provided you are not using support ropes (attached to your body as in mountaineering).

You can buy a policy online anytime, even if you're already travelling.

Just be sure to read policy wording / full description of cover carefully for full terms and conditions, limits and exclusions as all plans are different, depending on your country of residence.

For example: some plans have a 3 day waiting period if you buy it and you're already away from home. Other plans offer cancellation coverage from the time you buy insurance, so you may want to buy insurance as soon as you start incurring trip costs. And, if you buy the insurance after you're sick or injured, then it's unlikely you'll be covered as insurance is made for unexpected events.

Hope you have a great trip and enjoy the views from the top of the mountain! over 6 years ago
