Is english enough when travelling in Syria?
almost 11 years ago about Syria
I understand Arabic is the dominant language and that French is also quite prevalent, but will I be fine to travel around with just english or should I pick up a phrase book?

You should be fine when it comes to hotels, restaurants and most stalls in the souqs but have a few Arabic phrases up your sleeve just in case. When walking through the souqs of Damascus and Aleppo it's amazing to hear the sellers change between so many different languages to accomodate their target customer. One of the more truly beautiful countries in the world so enjoy! :) almost 11 years ago
