Late May is too late for the Northern Lights, but we would still like to go to Lapland. What is a good town to base in, and what are some good spots along the train ride from stockholm to stop and explorre?

I recommend Jämtland Härjedalen- the AdventureSweden region!
Winter: Skiresorts and lots of sideactivities besides alpine skiing: opportunities to go XC skiing even in the evenings whith electric lights by the tracks, nordic skiing as well as ski touring, dog sledding, snowmobiling, skating on lakes, snowshoeing, visiting local food producers etc. We have five larger ski destinations and many more smaller ones. In summer our ski destinations turn into hiking and biking meckas for everyone who is into an active lifestyle including downhill bicycling, paddling, trail running and with our long hours of daylight in summer you will have time to explore until late in the evenings! The light also does something to our local produce. It just tastes more from our locally produced products - come try us out!
