If u want quiet miss out unwatuna. I enjoy it there but lots of beach sellers and drunken ex marines who want to party! Lots of other quieter spots in that area or head to the east coast or further north for real quiet areas. Hope that helps? over 9 years ago

Aragum Bay - just got back from there last week and it is amazing. Its about 8 hours drive from Colombo or 50 minutes on the sea plane. The beach is wonderful with nice waves and breakers. Its a good surf beach - it just held the Pro Surf Championships there, so it has to be decent!
Accommodation is quite basic - no big hotels, no chains etc. I stayed at Gecko and can definitely recommend it.
Nice places to eat would be Gecko, the Green Room, Luckys and somewhere else I have forgotten that does amazing guacamole!
The whole atmosphere for Aragum Bay is one of relaxation, quiet, not crazy, some late nights, but also the option to head to bed early without any interruptions. The locals are lovely and very friendly and its somewhere to go and chill out. over 9 years ago -
