There is a massive Buddha on the mountain in Kurunegala. It's not in the guidebooks, you must check it out! See a photo of it as you enter my website. If you're familiar with the story of the Ramayana an interesting temple to visit is the Sita Eliya temple on the outskirts of Nuwara Eliya in the hill country. It's a small temple, believed to be the only Sita temple in the world. Its location is said to be close to where the demon king Ravana kept Sita after kidnapping her. You can also see footprints of the monkey god Hanuman just behind the temple by the river. over 7 years ago
