Be ware of the most frequented touristic places are expensive and there are many places where you can feel home and enjoy the beauty of the country with out any cost. only cost would be your hotel or guest house and the traveling. that too can be reduced by finding a host on Couch-surfing or tripping. Never go for traveling agencies they all are focused on your $$$$ nothing more.

Climb Adams peak, take a surfing in Arugam bay beach, go to Passikuda or kalkuda beach, Try Haputale, Bandarawela, Ella, Passara for hill country experience relatively cheap.
