First time to Spain, would like to spend few days in Barcelona , any nice hotel to suggest, not so expensive and convenient ?

Then 5 days in a beach resort, a smal and cosy place not so crowded ( July 09) and touristic. I read about Cadaques, is a nice place to spend few days, what about the beach and sea. Any hotel here to recommend ?

Thanks for help

I stayed in a camping ground called Tres Estrellas in Castelldefels just south of Barcelona.

The beach there was fantastic in the mornings. It was a 30 minutes bus ride from the city and reasonably priced. over 11 years ago

Thanks Niko, I am not into camping, a nice resort in Costa Brava not so crowded and with mass tourism and if you know of the nice and not very expensive hotels in that resort area

Cadaques gets REALLY full...can be bit like a sardine can! Just North there are a few places that are much quieter, also a very cool hotel on the cliffs with lighthouse and excellent curries! It's on the way to Port Lligat, sorry can't think of it's name off hand (am in Belize!). Other pretty more "local " beach towns south of there are San Pere Pescador, around Rosas, Pals, and a great beach / fishing village is lafranc and all the beaches around it! Bagur also now very "hip" with lots of boutique hotels, any further south and it gets really full and ugly again with a few exceptions! over 11 years ago
