  I like the Russafa Hoste: http://www.holavalencia.net/2009/10/05/ruzafa-youth-hostel-in-valencia/ it's in an interesting neighborhood and not too many tourists are there. From there you walk 10 minutes to main Plaza and probably 20 minutes to the historic center. I lived in Russafa for 1 year and loved it! about 7 years ago
