Oh where to begin! Firstly, it does depend on your starting point, how long you have and how you plan on getting around. If you are focusing solely on the Andalucia area, you will be run ragged with places to visit in that province alone. The beaches are lovely, but many of the coastal towns (Fuengirola, Marbella, Torremolinos etc) have been increasingly dominated over the decades by package holiday that would put you hard pushed to find locals amidst pubs, chippies etc. I spent many of my childhood holidays near Estepona but that was decades ago and even then its 'Spanishness' was receding. AlHambra in Grenada as noted above is a MUST if you want to get a flavor and understanding of Spain's Moorish and Jewish past, as is Cordoba. Inland, there's Casares and Ronda villages tucked in the rocky crags of the mountains. Sevilla melds old with the modern and is known for its vibrant and varied nightlife, especially in the summer months when people surface in the cooler hours of the otherwise very hot days. Buses are good to get around but I would also look at a car rental for some of the trip to get you out to those smaller OTBP villages and towns. almost 7 years ago

Well, I live here so I am biased! I have written extensively and have a 600 page site www dot thisisspain dot info All the places above and more should interest anybody but to give you real answers we do need to know what you're about. As a soccer fan, taking in a Málaga game would be a thrill - if you hate it , you'd waste 3 hours of your life. Same with bull-fighting, Picasso museums etc etc ¡Andalucia tiene de todo! almost 7 years ago

Granada! Visit the Alhambra, Albaycin, and the Neighborhood around plaza nueva. Great tapas around plaza de gracia. Also, the tombs of Ferdinand and Isabel are in Granada. It is also home to a beautiful cathedral. Go up into to hills to el camborio, a nightclub in a cave! Great flamenco, art....... over 6 years ago

You definitely need to make it to Granada. The Alhambra is amazing, but so are the Albaicín, the Cathedral, the gipsy caves in the Sacromonte and the many interesting museums and monasteries scattered around the city! over 6 years ago
