Nice 'boutique' hotel in Barcelona around EUR60 per night?
I'm heading to Barcelona in July and am looking for a somewhat unusual but nice place to stay. Y'know, kinda 'boutique' but not without the expensive part. Around EUR60 per night or under would be best (although under might be pushing it!). Any tips? Cheers!

Hello Rich
Its very difficult to find "Boutique Hotel" under 150 eur per night (double room) in Barcelona. I understand "Boutique" as stylish, trendy, familiar treat and high tech ready. I you forget all this i recommend a phew hotels not so stylish, not to trendy but in a good situation and best rate/quality.
I the price still to high better look for hostel acommodations.

I stayed at Gat Xino and it was ok. Small rooms but good price. Only drawback is the location when walking back at night. Friendly staff, decent breakfast and nice modern interior. They have two hotels in Barcelona.

Depending on how long you are staying, renting an apartment may be something worth considering. Im heading to Barcelona in June and was looking for something similar to what you have described, but without the price tag. I found that apartments were generally cheaper and you can also factor in the added saving of being able to prepare you own food bought at Boqueria market!
This is the place we are staying at: http://www.banysdemar.com. The bonus here is that it does have a reception with standard office hours, so no waiting around on the street for an owner to turn up. It is in La Barceloneta and not far from the beach. Apartments are priced at around 85 Euro a night, plus there is a cleaning fee. If that's pushing the budget a little I did find quite a few options for around the 70 Euro mark. There´s a hotel named The Praktik Hotel, located close to La Pedrera (also known as Casa Mila) the famous Gaudi apartment. My friend stayed there for 3 days while he was visiting me in Barcelona last year in November.
The rate begins from 50€ per night, depending on the season, and is practical as it´s name. Have alll the basic stuff you might need, simple and modern design, good location (safe & quiet - still being in the city center).
You can check out more at their web. www.praktikhotels.com almost 11 years ago
