I have never traveled alone in a city and I`ve never been out of the country. I know a small amount of Spanish. What would be a safe activity (sightseeing, walking the city, eating, etc.) for a single female traveler with about 10 free hours.?

You could swing by Museo Reina Sofia to see Guernica, eat some of the best churros at Chocolateria San Gines, walk through Retiro Park, walk around the shops and restaurants by the Oso y el Madrono statue. over 2 years ago

I would suggest the same! I love art, and everyone says go to "The Prado" but this trip I enjoyed Museo Reina Sofia so much better, in that it has lots of contemporary emotional and political history with artists works from the 19th century, Picasso, Dali, Miro. they have a really nice garden with a large Miro sculpture. Lots more fun, upbeat than the Prado. over 2 years ago

It depends on what time you arrive in Madrid. I would take the metro into the center of the city and just walk around and enjoy all the wonderful sights of Madrid. It is a beautiful city and you can easily spend 10 hours exploring the city. If it is in the day time, don't worry, Madrid is pretty safe. Just be careful of pickpockets. Practice up on your Spanish, not many people speak English. Download a translation app on your phone, if you can, get a local sim card but that may not be realistic to do. The metro system in Madrid is very good. over 2 years ago
