I am planning to go to Spain from 29 dec to 11 jan. is it true that most shops and places are closed during this period?
I plan to travel around spain during this time frame but I am told that most things would be closed! Is this true? Would like to book my ticket soon. I'll going to Barcelona, Valencia, seville and Madrid. Is it worth going to Spain during this period? I am more of a culture vulture so I'd hold off the partying.

Absolutely not true, shops and restaurants will be open. Off course Christmas day will have stores & museums closed. Bear in mind 1st of january is National Holiday, shops will be closed but restaurants will be open for lunch and dinner.
