Check out the Giants in display at the institut de cultura (on Rambla) before they go on the parade. They usually have it open to the public for a few days before. Many of the museums are free that day/weekend so get a schedule of which ones. I went to the Picasso museum last year. A bit of a line to get in, but it went quickly and it was worth it. Explore the corners of barrio Gothico as there are markets and performances everywhere. Watch out for firecrackers and be prepared for lot of smoke at the parade, but its fun! over 5 years ago
