We want to rent a rambling villa for a month as a base for outings. What's a good time of year that will help us avoid too many tourists. We would like to skip the very hottest time also, so would prefer spring or autumn. We are three families with six kids between 5-17, the biggest boy has downs syndrome. We are Australian so very easy going and all great cooks so markets close by would be nice. Any suggestions ??

i would recommend with no doubts Granada (Andalucia). This city is well-known because the Alhambra monument, the national nature park ''Sierra Nevada'' and its great and cheapest tapas! if you are planning go in august you better go somewhere else like Salobreña, Almuñecar, Cadiz because the heat! ciao! over 8 years ago

A great spot along the coast is Nerja, about 45 minutes from Malaga and about an hour and twenty minute drive from Grenada. Nerja is in one of the best, least built-up and spoiled parts of the Costa del Sol. Nerja is backed up be mountains and a National Park and has great weather in the Fall and Spring. It's a very pleasant place, with a lot to offer for families (beach, hiking, great eating, easily reached historical attraction, the Nerja Caves, festivals, plenty of reasonably priced family accommodations and friendly people). It's popular with families, Spanish and other nationalities, with a pleasant off-season laid back atmosphere! Check it out and have fun! about 8 years ago
