Backpacking in South America, will we get away just having US dollars in our wallets or should we get a bit of the local currency out in each country we go to?

    Each country uses its own currency, except for Ecuador which still uses the dollar. It's best to travel with a debit card, taking local currency's out at ATMs. over 7 years ago
