Yes that is possible. There are a lot of game reserves and safari services in Limpopo and North West areas, which are just above and next to Joburg. Just google game reserves near Joburg! about 7 years ago

You could also try the Pilansberg national park - less than 2 hrs from Johannesburg and very well stocked with all game and includes the big 5. As it's a national park the rates are reasonable. about 7 years ago

A short hop by plane from Joburg is Mala-mala. It is the best! Accomodations are great and two nights there is perfect. I've been to many safaris in S. Africa and Kenya, and Mala-mala is where you se the most game. about 7 years ago

Mala-mala has a lodge - http://www.safariguideafrica.com/malamala-safari-lodge-main-sable-camp.php - though a bit expensive I think it is fine for the two nights. Anything though west of Kruger would be fun - look for other places in the Timbavati and Sabi Sabi if you are interested there. about 7 years ago

There are a number of private game reserves in Mpumalanga which will take you for game drives. As for a genuine safari, 2 days is a bit short. Look at www.kruger2canyons.com they operate in the area. You could also go to Pilansberg nature reserve for a few days, this one is quite close to johannesburg and therefore popular with tourists who have less time. over 6 years ago
