The best place for wildlife in South Africa is Kruger Park, and in my opinion one of the best in all Africa.
The way from Cape Town to Durban is safe and very beautiful.

Would advise not to drive after dark anywhere there since there is possibility of broken down cars, trucks with no warning lights. about 3 years ago

The Kruger National Park is a definite however you can see some wildlife in the Eastern Cape at Pumba or Kariega if you're heading down that direction. I would rent a car if you're interested in getting from Cape Town to Durban and drive the Garden Route. Watch out while you're in the Kei Cutting area and as suggested above, try not to drive around at night. Otherwise, it's a beautiful country with lots to see and offer. about 3 years ago
