Budget hotel ( hotel81), there are a few branches located near city area as well as a few outside cities area. Prices range from $80 to $150 per day. Estimated only. I would suggest u to go for resort, where it would be much cheaper, but it's not anywhere near mrt. But buses are convienent in Singapore. U can try sunkist which is located at east coast park, where there are many BBQ kit, beaches and nice food, cycling, roller blading. On the weekend it's crowded.

U can try costa sands at pasir ris, located at north east of Singapore, but it's abit far. almost 7 years ago

I would recommend DOWNTOWN EAST and check-in at the NTUC Chalets. Firstly, it's near the airport. It's an entertaiment spot for local so its not too expensive. There is a water theme park, food stalls, fast food chain, movie theater, disco, souvenir outlets and swimming pool. It's also a walking distance to the beach. You can use our public transports like buses or the train to go places as it's near the bus and train terminal. You can have breakfast and lunch at the near-by food stall and BBQ at night as there are BBQ pit provided. NTUC Chalets are clean, aircondition, comfortable and most important, its safe. DOWNTOW EAST is located on the east side of the island and being near the bus and train interchange, it's easy for you to explore and experience Singapore for a month. almost 7 years ago

For a month, you may want to check out RELC service apartments. I understand they have some new refurbished ones and the older ones... Both are pretty good from my perspective. Good price + near Orchard.
