I get mixed and confusing answers on Google.
I am a South African teaching in South Korea and will visit Hungary in March for 13 days and then Romania for 11 days. I know i need a schengen visa for Hungary, but what visa for Romania? also a schengen is what i read?! but can't find Romania on the EU list. help please!
Romania has been part of EU since Jan 2007, however, "part of EU" does NOT meen "part of Schengen" (example: Great Britain).
At present Romania's (and - official - EU's) intention is joining Schengen in March 2015 and their opion is that the contry is prepared for that (http://www.novinite.com/articles/165217/Donald+Tusk%3A+Bulgaria+Well-Prepared+to+Join+Schengen+Zone). However, the opionion of e.g. Germany is clearly opposite (http://actmedia.eu/daily/german-official-romania-will-not-access-schengen-in-2015/55821)
Until the MCV report mentioned is published and an official statement has been made, the official answer to your question is "nobody knows". My personal opinion is that Romania will not be a part of Schengen at the time you are visiting. over 4 years agoAnswered by Europe via WorldNomads.com
