have asked a friend of mine hwo works in Doha to reply, she says: "Very safe. The threat of corporal punishment keeps crime rates down! No "no go" places but women might feel a bit uncomfortable in areas where there are a lot of men. Women should cover shoulders and knees. No need to cover your head. Men should just dress modestly. Short shorts probably not a good idea. And "must do" things in Doha? Um. Shisha, tea and people watching at the old souk in the evening. Desert safari if it's not too hot. Other tips: keep PDAs modest, don't bring alcohol because it'll be confiscated, and if you need directions and you're a man, ask a man not a woman. " over 9 years ago
