Can you recommend some vegetarian restaurants in Lisbon?
Heading there soon and want to know if there are many vegan friendly restaurants. Also how do you say "I don't eat meat" in Portugese? Thanks!

Hi Ian,
There are a few good and cheap ones in Lisbon, but right now I only remember "Jardim das Cerejas" in Baixa-Chiado and "Pão de canela" in Praça das Flores. Both are buffet type, you pay a certain price and eat whatever you want.

"I don't eat meat" = Eu não como carne. You can speak in English in most places in Lisbon, that people will understand you. Specially young people, everyone knows a bit of English.
However, if you're not going to a vegan restaurant, be careful when ordering in a normal one, because people sometimes think that vegetarians eat eggs or fish or even white meat as the distinction between vegan and vegetarian and other diets is not clear to the general public.
Hope you enjoy your time in Lisbon!! :) about 8 years ago -

I don't eat meat- Sou vegetariano
Easiest way to say you are vegetarian, no questions asked. Or
I don't eat meat - eu não como carne
Saying this one they may serve you fish since it's a fishermen country, say that you are vegetarian instead over 7 years agoAnswered by Tony Silveira viaAsk a Nomad iPad app
