Yes. It's safe, especially when you go to a major city, like Cracow, Warsaw, Wroclaw etc. You'll meet a lot of open-minded people there. And polish people are very friendly, very helpful.

You propably will have some difficulty with communication in english (in shops for example, or with older people, even policemen don't speak english too well (!!) ). over 7 years ago

It's the same as in any other european country. Avoid being outside after 10 PM, do not enter places where there are no people, etc. Just apply standard sense of safety behavior. over 7 years ago

I totally agree with both of the above answers. I felt extremely safe (as long as I used common safety sense) the entire time I was there.

Here's a blog I wrote about my visit...enjoy your visit to this great place!

I lived in Warsaw in 2009/10 and I felt very very safe at all times. I agree with both answers, although I did walk by myself often after 10PM, even midnight, and never once had any problems. Don't know about smaller cities, though.

Have a wonderful time! over 7 years ago

it is safe only in big cities during the day, teh rest, country and small city is dangerous. I know many rape accidents which happened in the rural country. A car pulled up to a girl walking along the road and she was raped by emn fro te car. next they beated her up damaging her face. Ask neighbours,a sk girls , after leaving pubs , disco, they are not safe, men waiting. I guess women shoud carry a gun almost 6 years ago
